Unit 6 Meditation

In the Universal Loving-kindness exercise I was able to start out with my mind focused, then as usual I was distracted by other thoughts. All I can do is to keep practicing for better results.

With the Integral Assessment I was able to immediately focus on the source of my difficulty or suffering. I was able to meditate on all of the negative thoughts that go through my mind on a daily basis. It seems as if I can't eliminate the negative thoughts no matter how hard I try. In order for my life to improve I have to rid my mind of the negative thoughts that trouble me from day to day. Growth and development for me will have to be in the Psycho Spiritual realm, because I don't have a trained mind especially when it comes to positive thinking. In order for me to foster wellness in this area I will have to keep practicing meditation until I get the hang of it, along with prayer. Reading a good book is also a positive escape for the mind, especially something inspirational to get the mind's attention away from the negative.

  1. HI! I had a very difficult time memorizing the mantra in the book, so that was frustrating for me. Is there a right or wrong way to meditate? A class would be helpful to me, I think. Reading is a great escape, and can make you feel such strong emotions. I agree with you that it is difficult to keep negative thoughts and emotions at bay. Some days are better than others. Stay positive!

  2. It is good that you could assess where you need help at. I believe the first step in changing something is first recognizing it. This assessment was also enlightening for me. I realized that I need much improvement biologically. I need to be more consciously aware of what I am putting in my body because I believe food is a spirit itself. It’s either going to aid in the healing or destroy. I can relate to where you are. The negative thoughts would consumed my day until I started practicing self-interrupt talk. I would capture my thoughts and replace them with something positive. This takes much practice. It took years for me to train my mind to think positive but I was able to do it and you can too.
