1. Unlike the loving-kindness exercise in unit 4, I was actually able to focus more this week. I was able to focus on my breathing in order to relax my mind better than last week. It actually worked for a little while without any distractions.
2. The connection of spiritual-mental-physical wellness was that I was able to relax my mind, feel at peace, and able to relax physically for a short time. I have discovered that sometimes this works and other times it does not work. I am a work in progress as I adjust to these exercises. In my personal life it will help me to relax my mind since it's always in a state of turmoil.
I was able to make a much better effort this week due to the focus on our own breathing as well. I have a tough time with the focus stuff, or at least I have so far. But the issue for me has been to remain open minded to these new ideas which hasn't been an issue yet. It's been humbling to realize how hard it is to relax and sit in quite for only a brief time. I've realized that allowing for this time helps me focus and not waste energy worrying about the rest of the day as much. I'm hoping I can grow a bit every week and use this as a benefit for my long term happiness and health.

It’s not always easy trying to relax especially when you have a racing mind like mines. I encourage you to keep at it. At first I would always fall to sleep when trying to practice any type of brain workout, or meditation. But a few weeks ago I decided to try it first thing upon waking up in the morning and there is a great different. I am able to not fall to sleep and to focus. At first my mind continuously wondered, but I allowed them to do so. Thoughts quickly come and go just do not concentrate on them. Eventually you pay them no attention and become calm and still.
